Monyet sendiri memiliki beragam dan terkategori dalam berbagai bentuk, sifat dan warna. Salah satu yang paling menarik ialah monyet terkecil di dunia yang bernama Pygmy Marmoset .
Dilansir dari akun Tiktok @kamutahugak?, Pygmy Marmoset adalah spesies monyet terkecil di dunia yang merupakan primata endemik dari hutan hujan Amazon.
Pygmy Marmoset ukuran tubuhnya kurang dari 160 mm dengan bobot hanya berkisar 100 gram saja. Di alam liar, ia adalah omnivora pemakan getah pohon serangga dan juga buah-buahan.
Uniknya, meski berukuran kecil primata ini bisa melompat sejauh 5 m sehingga memungkinkannya untuk bisa kabur dengan cepat saat ada predator yang mendekat.
Keunikan lain pada hewan lucu ini adalah kemampuannya yang bisa memutar leher hingga 180 derajat. Sedangkan untuk berkembang biak Pygmy Marmoset bisa melahirkan setiap 5 sampai 7 bulan dengan masa kehamilan sekitar 4,5 bulan. Karena ukurannya memang sudah mini, bayi yang baru lahir biasanya berukuran ibu jari manusia.

Dalam reproduksi kali pertama Pygmy Marmoset akan melahirkan anak kembar atau tiga sekaligus. Pygmy Marmoset jantan dan betina kemudian akan hidup bersama dan membersarkan anak mereka dengan kompak. Sang ibu menjadi penjaga setia dan pembimbing anak-anaknya dalam belajar memanjat dan melompat, sedangkan sang bapak mencari makanan dan membantu mengangkut anak-anaknya.
Monyet kecil Pygmy Marmoset memiliki umur yang tak sekecil tubuhnya. Mereka bisa bertahan hingga 10-20 tahun di alam liar ataupun dirawat dengan benar. Meskipun sudah tua tapi Pygmy Marmoset akan tetap berukuran mini.
Sayangnya, hewan kecil dan imut ini tidak bisa dipelihara karena adalah salah satu primata yang dilindungi. Oleh karena itu, kepemilikan hewan ini terhitung ilegal karena Pygmy Marmoset adalah satwa langka di kawasan Amazon.
