Limbah medis milik RSU Kaliwates yang dibuang ke sungai.
JATIMTIMES - Di saat pemerintah berupaya mengatasi permasalahan sampah yang menjadi pembahasan nasional, tumpukan limbah medis justru dibuang di aliran sungai yang ada di Dusun Krajan, Desa Sukorambi, Kecamatan Sukorambi, Jember. Penemuan limbah medis di sungai itu viral karena videonya diunggah ke media sosial.
Dalam rekaman video berdurasi 59 detik, limbah medis ditemukan warga pada Sabtu 15 Mei 2026 sekitar pukul 10.59.

Dalam video tersebut, perekam menunjukkan sejumlah data obat yang bungkusnya bertuliskan IHC Rumah Sakit Kaliwates. "Ini limbah medis dari Rumah Sakit Kaliwates. Dibuang di sungai yang ada di Dusun Krajan, Desa Sukorambi," ujar warga yang menemukan.
Postingan video tersebut menuai banyak kritikan dari masyarakat. Sebab, limbah medis merupakan limbah B3 (beracun) yang tidak boleh dibuang sembarangan sesuai dengan Undang-Undang Nomor 32 Tahun 2009 tentang Perlindungan dan Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup (UU PPLH). Bahkan pelaku pembuangan limbah medis bisa dijerat secara pidana.
Menyikapi temuan ini, pihak RSU Kaliwates saat dikonfirmasi media ini menyatakan bahwa pembuangan limbah medis dilakukan oleh vendor, bukan oleh pihak rumah sakit.
"Sudah diatasi Mas, dan itu bukan kami yang membuang, tapi pihak vendor," ujar Pramudya, humas RSU Kaliwates Jember, saat dikonfirmasi pada Minggu (16/5)2026).
