JATIMTIMES Lathifah Shohib mengingatkan para kader Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII ) agar tidak kehilangan kepekaan sosial di tengah perkembangan zaman dan teknologi yang serba cepat.
Hal itu disampaikan Lathifah saat memberikan sambutan dan pengarahan dalam kegiatan puncak peringatan Hari Lahir PMII ke-66 tahun yang mengusung tema "Aksi Nyata PMII untuk Indonesia" di Pendapa Agung Kabupaten Malang. Dalam kegiatan tersebut tampak hadir para alumni PMII serta Kepala Badan Kesatuan Bangsa dan Politik (Bakesbangpol) Kabupaten Malang Agus Widodo dan Sekretaris Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Malang Rosyta Dewi.

Lathifah berpesan kepada seluruh kader PMII utamanya yang berada di Kabupaten Malang untuk terus mengembang kapasitas diri dan menjaga kepedulian sosial di tengah dinamika kehidupan masyarakat.
"Kepada seluruh kader PMII, saya berpesan jangan pernah lelah belajar, jangan takut turun ke masyarakat, dan jangan kehilangan kepekaan sosial," ungkap Lathifah, Selasa (2/6/2026).
Pejabat perempuan yang dulunya merupakan aktivis PMII ini menyampaikan, puncak peringatan Hari Lahir PMII ke-66 tahun ini menjadi momentum untuk memperkuat semangat pengabdian, mempererat silaturahmi antar kader dan alumni, serta meneguhkan komitmen PMII dalam berkontribusi bagi pembangunan daerah dan kemajuan bangsa melalui aksi nyata yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat luas.
Lathifah yang sebelumnya pernah duduk di kursi Anggota DPR RI ini mengatakan, PMII bukan sekadar organisasi tempat berhimpunnya mahasiswa, melainkan juga menjadi ruang pembentukan karakter, ruang dialektika pemikiran, serta kawah candradimuka bagi lahirnya para pemimpin masa depan.
"Banyak tokoh bangsa, birokrat, akademisi, ulama hingga pemimpin daerah yang ditempa melalui proses kaderisasi PMII. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa PMII memiliki peran strategis dalam mencetak generasi yang tidak hanya cerdas secara intelektual, tetapi juga memiliki komitmen kuat terhadap bangsa dan masyarakat," jelas Lathifah.
Perempuan yang merupakan cucu dari salah satu pendiri Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH. Bisri Syansuri ini menyebutkan, tema puncak peringatan Hari Lahir PMII ke-66 tahun yakni "Aksi Nyata PMII untuk Indonesia" sangat relevan dengan tantangan zaman saat ini.

Menurutnya, Indonesia membutuhkan generasi muda yang tidak hanya pandai berbicara dan menyampaikan gagasan, tetapi juga mampu menghadirkan solusi serta tindakan nyata yang memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat luas.
"Di tengah perkembangan teknologi, perubahan sosial, tantangan ekonomi, hingga derasnya arus informasi digital, mahasiswa harus mampu menjadi agen perubahan yang membawa kesejukan, persatuan dan kemajuan," tutur Lathifah.
Lebih lanjut, Lathifah berharap agar para kader PMII dapat terus menjaga idealisme, memperkuat intelektualitas, serta tetap berpijak pada nilai-nilai keislaman yang moderat, toleran dan rahmatan lil ‘alamin. "Kader PMII harus mampu menjadi jembatan antara pemikiran dan pengabdian, antara kritik dan solusi, serta antara semangat perubahan dan etika kebangsaan," pungkas Lathifah.
