Memasuki musim kemarau, rupanya membuat banyak petani gencar menanam komuditas seledri di Kota Batu. Gara-gara itu, harga sayur seledri pun kini jeblok di harga Rp 2 ribu per kilogram.
“Sekarang harga seledri Rp 2 ribu per kilogram. Padahal sebelumnya sempat mahal di kisaran Rp 10 ribu, eh sekarang malah jeblok harganya,” ungkap Sugeng, Petani Dusun Sumberejo, Desa Sumberejo, Kecamatan Batu.
Ia mengatakan harga Rp 2 ribu per kilogram itu merupakan harga termurah bagi sayuran seledri. Sedangkan harga Rp 10 ribu per kilogram itu bisa dikatakan mahal.
“Tapi untungnya saya menanam seledri ini dengan metode tumpangsari. Jadi selain seledri di samping tanaman ini saya tanami sayur lain seperti bawang prei,” imbuhnya.
Menurut Sugeng, seledri ini memiliki harga yang rendah lantaran saat ini banyak petani yang menanam sayuran ini. “Kalau sudah banyak yang panen, otomatis stoknya banyak, sehingga harganya turun drastis juga,” tambah pria 53 tahun ini.
Yang membuat banyaknya petani memilih menanam empat komoditas ini karena disesuaikan dengan cuaca panas. Selain itu, sayuran tersebut memiliki masa panen singkat.
Seledri ini bisa panen dalam 40 hari saja. Dan, perawatannya pun mudah. Apalagi tanaman ini bisa dipanen berkali-kali dalam waktu yang relatif panjang.
“Di lahan saya 2 meter ini, satu kali panen setiap minggunya bisa dapat 5 kuintal,” jelasnya.
