JATIMTIMES - Belakangan ini, fenomena pijat kretek sedang menjadi tren di media sosial. Banyak video menampilkan ahli pijat ini melakukan teknik yang menghasilkan suara khas "kretek-kretek" dari tubuh pasien. 

Tak hanya warga lokal, sejumlah bule juga terlihat ikut mencoba metode pijat yang unik ini. Bahkan, akun media sosial para ahli pijat ini bisa memiliki pengikut hingga puluhan ribu, salah satunya mencapai 96 ribu followers.

Praktik ini tidak hanya dilakukan di satu tempat, para terapis pijat kretek kerap berkeliling ke berbagai kota besar di Indonesia untuk membuka sesi pijat. Namun, muncul pertanyaan apakah pijat kretek ini aman bagi kesehatan? 

dr. Dion Haryadi, PN1, CHC, AIFO-K, seorang dokter umum sekaligus Certified Nutrition & Health Coach, menjelaskan bahwa suara "kretek-kretek" yang dihasilkan selama pijat sebenarnya berasal dari pecahnya gelembung udara yang ada di persendian. 

"Habis kretek-kretek biasanya memang bisa berasa lebih enakan," kata dr. Dion, dikutip dari akun Instagramnya, @dionharyadi, Kamis (16/1/2025). Namun, ia menegaskan bahwa efek ini hanya sementara dan tidak berarti benar-benar memperbaiki kondisi tubuh secara mendasar. 

Meski terlihat menenangkan, dr. Dion memberikan peringatan tegas terkait risiko yang ada, terutama jika pijat kretek dilakukan pada area leher

"Kretek-kretek di bagian leher memiliki risiko tinggi karena ada pembuluh darah di tulang belakang yang bisa robek saat dilakukan kretek-kretek," ujarnya. Kondisi ini bisa berujung pada stroke atau bahkan kelumpuhan.

Risiko tersebut semakin meningkat apabila pijat dilakukan oleh orang yang tidak memiliki kompetensi atau keahlian khusus. "Kalau dilakukan oleh orang yang bukan ahlinya, risikonya jadi jauh lebih besar," tambah dr. Dion. 

Daripada mengandalkan pijat kretek yang berisiko, dr. Dion memberikan solusi jangka panjang yang lebih aman dan efektif. Ia menyarankan untuk menjalani gaya hidup sehat yang melibatkan:
• Istirahat yang cukup
"Investasikan di kasur dan alat tidur yang nyaman," saran dr. Dion.
• Pemenuhan kebutuhan nutrisi
"Makan dengan cukup dan penuhi kebutuhan protein harian." kata dr. Dion. 
• Latihan fisik secara rutin
Menurut dr. Dion, olahraga adalah kunci utama mengatasi pegal-pegal. "Dulu saya juga sering pegal-pegal di badan, pinggang, dan leher. Tapi sejak rutin latihan fisik, semuanya hilang," ungkapnya. 

Meskipun olahraga bisa menyebabkan rasa pegal sementara akibat Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS), dr. Dion menganggap ini jauh lebih baik dibandingkan nyeri akibat kurangnya aktivitas fisik. 

Jadi, sebelum mencoba pijat kretek, pikirkan kembali manfaat dan risikonya untuk tubuh kamu. Sehat bukan soal mengikuti tren, tapi kebiasaan yang dijalani setiap hari. Semoga informasi ini bermanfaat!
