JATIMTIMES – Kecelakaan maut yang diduga kuat akibat rem blong terjadi di kawasan Jalan Pattimura, Kota Batu, Rabu (18/2/2026) sore. Sebuah truk bermuatan katul atau pakan ternak meluncur tak terkendali dan menghantam sedikitnya empat kendaraan lain di jalur padat tersebut.

Insiden berdarah ini terjadi sekitar pukul 17.28 WIB. Truk tersebut diketahui melaju deras dari arah Lippo Plaza Batu (Batos) menuju arah Malang. Karena kehilangan fungsi pengereman, truk mulai menabrak dua mobil di sepanjang Jalan Pattimura sebelum akhirnya menghantam dua mobil lainnya tepat di depan Masjid Putih.

Saksi mata di lokasi kejadian, Frenky Junaedi, menyebutkan bahwa truk melaju sangat kencang sebelum terhenti total setelah menabrak tiang Penerangan Jalan Umum (PJU). Dentuman keras akibat tabrakan beruntun ini sempat mengejutkan warga dan pengendara yang melintas.

"Sopirnya sendirian, tidak ada kernet. Truk itu sudah rem blong dari arah Lippo Plaza dan baru berhenti setelah menabrak tiang di sini," terang Frenky di lokasi kejadian.

Data sementara melaporkan dampak dari kecelakaan beruntun yang melibatkan total lima kendaraan ini sangat fatal. Satu orang dilaporkan meninggal dunia di lokasi kejadian, yakni seorang Driver Ojol bernama Iwan Kurniawan (39) warga Tlekung. Sementara ada empat orang lainnya mengalami luka-luka dan langsung dilarikan ke Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Hasta Brata Batu.

Salah satu kendaraan yang ringsek parah adalah mobil Daihatsu Astra dengan nomor polisi N 1822 JJ. Material pakan ternak yang diangkut truk juga tampak berserakan di aspal, menambah kerumitan proses evakuasi.

Sopir truk yang mengalami cedera di bagian kaki saat ini telah diamankan oleh petugas kepolisian. Pihak Satlantas Polres Batu kini tengah melakukan penyelidikan mendalam dan olah Tempat Kejadian Perkara (TKP) untuk memastikan kronologi pasti serta penyebab utama kegagalan rem pada truk tersebut.

Hingga berita ini diturunkan, petugas masih berupaya mengevakuasi badan kendaraan yang terlibat kecelakaan agar tidak menimbulkan kemacetan panjang di jalur utama Kota Batu menuju Malang.
