JATIMTIMES - Warga Pulau Wawonii, Sulawesi Tenggara, mengeluhkan kondisi sumber air yang diduga tercemar akibat aktivitas tambang nikel. Air yang sebelumnya digunakan untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari kini berubah keruh, berlumpur, dan tidak layak dikonsumsi.
Keluhan ini sejatinya sudah ramai sejak 2023, namun isu tersebut kembali mencuat setelah tim dari akun Instagram Instagram @idbaruid melakukan penelusuran langsung ke lokasi. Dalam unggahan di Instagram resminya, terlihat kondisi air yang mengalir ke rumah warga sudah tidak jernih seperti sebelumnya, bahkan berwarna kecokelatan.

“Air keran yang dulu dipakai sehari-hari sekarang jadi keruh, berlumpur, dan nggak layak minum tentunya,” demikian narasi dalam video tersebut.
Tim juga menelusuri aliran air hingga ke sumbernya, termasuk ke dalam gua yang selama ini menjadi bagian dari sistem distribusi air alami bagi warga.
Di lokasi itu, tim @idbaruid menemukan adanya sedimentasi yang cukup parah. Lumpur disebut telah memenuhi bagian dalam gua dan masuk ke saluran air yang terhubung langsung ke permukiman.
“Sedimentasi ini masuk melalui pipa yang nyalurin air ke rumah-rumah warga,” lanjut narasi tersebut.
Tak hanya itu, endapan lumpur juga terlihat menempel pada stalaktit, formasi batu kapur yang selama ini berfungsi sebagai penyaring alami air. Padahal, stalaktit terbentuk melalui proses alam yang memakan waktu sangat lama, bahkan ratusan tahun.
Dalam penelusuran tersebut, kerusakan lingkungan ini diduga berkaitan dengan aktivitas tambang nikel yang sempat beroperasi di wilayah itu sejak 2019 hingga 2025.
“Kerusakan ini berasal dari tambang nikel yang sempat beroperasi terlebih dari tahun 2019 sampai 2025,” ungkap narasi dalam video.

"Dan yang terlibat di dalamnya (diduga tambang nikel) adalah salah satu orang terkaya Indonesia, TNI, Polri, sampai Presiden loh," imbuh keterangan video.
Sontak unggahan ini menuai beragam respons dari waganet. Banyak yang turut mengkritisi keberadaan tambang tersebut.
