JATIMTIMES - Acara tahunan White House Correspondents’ Dinner yang berlangsung di Washington, D.C., Sabtu (25/4) malam waktu setempat mendadak berubah tegang setelah terdengar suara letusan yang diduga berasal dari tembakan. Presiden Amerika Serikat Donald Trump yang hadir dalam acara tersebut langsung dievakuasi oleh tim pengamanan.

Begitu suara letusan terdengar, agen dari United States Secret Service dengan sigap mengamankan situasi. Trump yang saat itu berada di podium segera dikawal keluar, disusul Wakil Presiden JD Vance serta para anggota kabinet yang turut menghadiri acara tersebut.

Dalam waktu singkat, suasana di dalam ruangan berubah panik. Sejumlah tamu memilih berlindung di bawah meja, sementara petugas keamanan bergegas menuju sumber suara. Laporan Reuters menyebut sekitar 2.600 tamu yang hadir sempat mencari perlindungan, bahkan terdengar teriakan “Bersembunyi!” dari beberapa orang di lokasi.

Tak lama setelah kejadian, Trump memberikan pernyataan melalui akun Truth Social. Ia memastikan bahwa pelaku telah diamankan serta kondisi dirinya dan seluruh pejabat yang hadir dalam keadaan baik.

“Sungguh malam yang luar biasa di D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement melakukan pekerjaan yang fantastis. Mereka bertindak cepat dan berani,” tulis Trump, dikutip Minggu (26/4). 

Ia juga menambahkan bahwa pelaku telah ditangkap. “Pelaku penembakan telah ditangkap, dan saya telah merekomendasikan agar kita ‘MEMBIARKAN ACARA BERLANJUT’, tetapi akan sepenuhnya mengikuti arahan petugas. Mereka akan segera mengambil keputusan," lanjutnya. 

Dalam pernyataan lanjutan, Trump mengatakan bahwa saat kejadian terjadi dirinya telah diminta meninggalkan tempat demi keamanan. 

“Petugas telah meminta kami untuk meninggalkan tempat tersebut, sesuai dengan protokol, yang kami lakukan segera. Saya akan memberikan konferensi pers dalam 30 menit dari Ruang Briefing Pers Gedung Putih. Ibu Negara, ditambah Wakil Presiden, dan semua anggota Kabinet, dalam kondisi sempurna," ujarnya.

Ia juga memastikan akan menyampaikan keterangan resmi lebih lanjut, “Kami akan berbicara kepada Anda dalam setengah jam. Saya telah berbicara dengan semua perwakilan yang bertanggung jawab atas acara tersebut, dan kami akan menjadwal ulang dalam waktu 30 hari.”

Dalam sejumlah video yang beredar di media sosial seperti salah satunya dibagikan akun X @OSINTdefender, terdengar beberapa kali suara letusan dari luar ruangan. Trump bersama Ibu Negara Melania Trump sempat berlindung di belakang podium sebelum akhirnya dievakuasi oleh petugas.

Insiden ini membuat jalannya acara tidak dapat dilanjutkan seperti rencana awal. Hingga kini, pihak berwenang masih menyelidiki lebih lanjut terkait kronologi dan motif di balik kejadian tersebut.
