JATIMTIMES - Ajang kompetisi bahasa Inggris berskala Jawa Timur kembali digelar tahun ini. Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Bahasa Inggris SMK Provinsi Jawa Timur bekerja sama dengan Brawijaya Language Center Universitas Brawijaya sukses menggelar BIG SMK JATIM CUP - English Olympiad (BSJC-EO) 2025 secara daring.

Kompetisi ini diikuti pelajar dari berbagai daerah di Jawa Timur, mulai jenjang SMP/MTs hingga SMA/SMK sederajat. Olimpiade tersebut menjadi wadah bagi siswa untuk mengasah kemampuan bahasa Inggris sekaligus mendorong transformasi pendidikan digital di lingkungan sekolah.

Ketua MGMP Bahasa Inggris SMK Provinsi Jawa Timur, Andik Tohari, mengatakan, MGMP tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai wadah koordinasi guru semata. Menurut dia, organisasi profesi guru juga mampu menghadirkan dampak nyata bagi dunia pendidikan.

"MGMP bukan hanya tempat koordinasi formal bagi guru atau sekadar wadah untuk kegiatan peningkatan kompetensi internal pendidik. Jika kita mau bergerak bersama dan berani memberikan dampak nyata, MGMP memiliki kapasitas untuk melakukan apapun, bahkan agenda-agenda besar yang biasa diinisiasi oleh dinas resmi pemerintah," ujar Andik, dalam keterangan resminya yang diterima JatimTIMES, Senin (18/5/2026). 

Ia menjelaskan, MGMP Bahasa Inggris SMK Jatim selama ini aktif menggelar berbagai kompetisi di bawah naungan BIG SMK JATIM CUP. Mulai dari kompetisi untuk pelajar SMP/MTs, ajang khusus siswa SMK, hingga English Olympiad yang terbuka untuk seluruh jenjang pendidikan di Jawa Timur.

Kolaborasi dengan Brawijaya Language Center Universitas Brawijaya mendapat apresiasi dari berbagai pihak. Pimpinan BLC UB, Yasser Arafat, menyebut langkah MGMP Jatim sebagai bentuk komitmen menghadirkan kompetisi yang profesional dan kredibel.

"Kami sangat mengapresiasi inisiatif luar biasa dari MGMP Bahasa Inggris SMK Provinsi Jawa Timur. Kerjasama ini membuktikan komitmen mereka dalam menghadirkan kompetisi yang memiliki validitas tinggi dan berstandar akademik ketat. Langkah ini sukses memberikan wadah strategis bagi pengembangan kemampuan akademik siswa, khususnya dalam penguasaan bahasa Inggris di semua jenjang pendidikan," tutur Yasser.

Ajang BSJC-EO 2025 sendiri berlangsung cukup ketat. Ribuan peserta bersaing hingga babak final untuk memperebutkan gelar juara tingkat provinsi serta total uang pembinaan senilai Rp 20 juta.

Berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Ketua MGMP Bahasa Inggris SMK Provinsi Jawa Timur Nomor: 006/MGBIG/SMK-JATIM/I/2026, berikut daftar juara tingkat provinsi.

Jenjang SMK/SMA/MA Sederajat

• Juara 1: Muhammad Rizki Ilahi – SMAN 2 Mojokerto
• Juara 2: Muhammad Aulia Akbar Firjatullah – SMK Telkom Kota Malang
• Juara 3: Manggala Damei Artyla – SMKN 1 Sidoarjo

Sementara posisi 10 besar lainnya ditempati peserta dari SMKN 1 Boyolangu Tulungagung, SMK PGRI 1 Jombang, SMKN 1 Bondowoso, SMAN 1 Waru, SMA Negeri 9 Kota Malang, MAN 2 Bojonegoro, dan SMKN 11 Kota Malang.

Jenjang SMP/MTs Sederajat

• Juara 1: Djibril Kamijanstin – SMP Negeri 1 Pasirian
• Juara 2: Qonita Rachelia Ardinda Maghfurin – SMP Taruna Nusa Harapan
• Juara 3: Quinnsya Bramantya – SMP Negeri 3 Kediri

Adapun peserta lain yang masuk jajaran 10 besar berasal dari MTsN 1 Kota Malang, SMP Nasional Tiga Bahasa Mitra Harapan, SMP Negeri 1 Situbondo, UPTD SMPN 1 Sampang, SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Bojonegoro, SMP Negeri 1 Sidoarjo, hingga MTsN 1 Kota Blitar.

Keberhasilan penyelenggaraan BSJC-EO 2025 dinilai menjadi bukti bahwa organisasi profesi guru mampu menghadirkan ruang prestasi yang berkualitas dan inklusif bagi pelajar di Jawa Timur.
