JATIMTIMES - Kebakaran terjadi di sebuah tempat pengolahan limbah plastik di Desa/Kecamatan Tajinan, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Dugaan sementara, kebakaran dipicu karena puntung rokok yang dibuang sembarangan hingga mengakibatkan kerugian mencapai puluhan juta rupiah.

Informasi adanya kebakaran tersebut juga sempat beredar di sejumlah platform media sosial (medsos) Selasa (19/5/2026). Berdasarkan video amatir yang dihimpun JatimTIMES, tampak api yang cukup besar disertai kepulan asap dari tumpukan plastik dari tempat pengolahan limbah tersebut.

Komandan Pleton (Danton) Seksi Penanggulangan Bidang Pemadam Kebakaran (Damkar) Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) Kabupaten Malang Andik Minarko menyebut, peristiwa kebakaran yang tersebut dilaporkan pada Senin (18/5/2026) menjelang petang.

"Indikasi sumber api penyebab kebakaran diduga berasal dari puntung rokok," ujarnya, Selasa (19/5/2026).

Kronologi kebakaran bermula pada Senin (18/5/2026) sekitar pukul 16.30 WIB. Saat itu, warga sekitar sudah melihat kobaran api yang telah membesar.

Warga sekitar kemudian berusaha memadamkan api dengan alat seadanya. Namun, banyaknya material yang mudah terbakar mengakibatkan api cepat membesar.

Peristiwa kebakaran tersebut akhirnya dilaporkan ke Damkar Kabupaten Malang. "Dua unit mobil PMK (Pemadam Kebakaran) kami kerahkan ke lokasi kejadian guna menanggulangi kebakaran," imbuhnya.

Pemadaman kebakaran oleh Damkar Kabupaten Malang tersebut saat itu juga  melibatkan sejumlah personel gabungan. Yakni mulai unsur Polsek Tajinan, perangkat Kecamatan Tajinan, sejumlah relawan hingga perangkat desa dan warga setempat.

Banyaknya material yang mudah terbakar membuat  pemadaman saat itu berlangsung cukup lama hingga Senin (18/5/2026) malam. "Api dapat dipadamkan sekitar 2,5 jam setelah petugas melakukan tindakan penanggulangan kebakaran di lokasi kejadian," ujarnya.

Berdasarkan data Damkar, tidak ada korban jiwa dalam peristiwa kebakaran di tempat pengolahan limbah plastik seluas 130 meter persegi milik Raihan (31),  warga Kelurahan Sawojajar, Kecamatan Kedungkandang, Kota Malang, tersebut. "Sedangkan  kerugian material kurang lebih Rp20 jutaan," pungkasnya.
