JATIMTIMES - FIFA tengah jadi sorotan di Amerika Serikat. Federasi sepak bola dunia itu kini diselidiki jaksa negara bagian New York dan New Jersey terkait dugaan manipulasi penjualan tiket 2026 FIFA World Cup yang membuat harga tiket Piala Dunia 2026 naik drastis.

Pemerintah dua negara bagian tersebut bahkan telah melayangkan surat pemanggilan pengadilan atau subpoena kepada FIFA.

Penyelidikan dilakukan setelah muncul banyak keluhan dari penggemar yang merasa dirugikan saat membeli tiket pertandingan Piala Dunia 2026. Sebagian pembeli mengaku tidak mendapatkan kursi sesuai kategori yang dijanjikan.

Jaksa Agung New York, Letitia James, mengatakan warga sudah menunggu bertahun-tahun agar Piala Dunia digelar di wilayah mereka. Karena itu, menurutnya, suporter seharusnya bisa membeli tiket dengan harga yang wajar.

“Warga New York sudah menunggu bertahun-tahun agar Piala Dunia hadir di wilayah mereka, dan mereka berhak mendapatkan kesempatan membeli tiket dengan harga yang wajar,” ujar James dikutip dari pernyataan resmi Kantor Jaksa Agung Negara Bagian New York, Kamis (28/5).

James menilai penggemar tidak semestinya dipaksa membayar sangat mahal demi mendapatkan posisi kursi tertentu. Ia juga menyoroti adanya pembeli tiket yang justru ditempatkan di area berbeda dari kategori yang dibeli.

Sorotan pada investigasi ini mengarah pada penjualan tiket pertandingan di MetLife Stadium. Stadion tersebut bakal menjadi venue delapan pertandingan Piala Dunia 2026, termasuk partai final pada 19 Juli 2026.

Awalnya, FIFA membagi tiket ke dalam empat kategori, mulai Category 1 hingga Category 4. Category 1 disebut sebagai area dengan posisi paling premium.

Namun di tengah penjualan, FIFA kemudian menghadirkan kategori baru bernama Front Category 1 sampai Front Category 4. Kategori baru itu menawarkan kursi yang lebih dekat dan strategis, tetapi dengan harga jauh lebih mahal.

Kondisi itu membuat banyak pembeli tiket tahap awal merasa dirugikan. Sebab, kursi yang sebelumnya dianggap premium ternyata bukan lagi posisi terbaik setelah kategori baru diluncurkan.

Sejumlah penggemar bahkan mengaku membeli tiket Category 1, tetapi posisi duduknya justru berada di belakang gawang atau lebih jauh dari lapangan. Ada juga yang merasa ditempatkan di area setara Category 2.

Jaksa Agung New Jersey, Jennifer Davenport, menilai sistem penjualan tiket FIFA World Cup membuat proses pembelian menjadi membingungkan.

Menurut Davenport, kelangkaan tiket dan harga yang terus naik membuat banyak konsumen merasa dirugikan. “Kami berkomitmen untuk melakukan investigasi menyeluruh terhadap tindakan FIFA dan melindungi konsumen,” katanya.

Selain dugaan manipulasi kategori kursi, lonjakan harga tiket juga ikut menjadi perhatian otoritas AS.

FIFA diketahui memakai sistem variable pricing, yakni harga tiket yang berubah mengikuti tingginya permintaan pasar. Dalam beberapa tahap penjualan terakhir, harga tiket sejumlah pertandingan melonjak cukup drastis.

Beberapa media internasional melaporkan FIFA menaikkan harga tiket di lebih dari 90 pertandingan dari total 104 laga sepanjang Oktober 2025 hingga April 2026. Kenaikannya disebut mencapai rata-rata 34 persen di tiga kategori utama tiket.
