JATIMTIMES - Fenomena penyalahgunaan ketamine yang kian marak di kalangan anak muda menyisakan kisah pilu bagi Ellie Weight. Perempuan asal Skotlandia itu kini harus menjalani perawatan seumur hidup akibat kerusakan kandung kemih yang dialaminya.
Perempuan berusia 23 tahun itu mengaku pertama mengenal ketamine saat berusia 18 tahun. Awalnya, ia hanya mengikuti tren di lingkungan pergaulannya tanpa mengetahui dampak serius yang mengintai.

“Semua orang melakukannya dan itu dianggap keren. Ada sensasi tersendiri saat melakukan sesuatu yang seharusnya tidak dilakukan,” kata Ellie.
Berawal dari sekadar mencoba di rumah teman, penggunaan ketamine lambat laun berubah menjadi kecanduan berat. Bahkan, selama lima tahun, ia diperkirakan telah menghabiskan lebih Rp 750 juta untuk membeli zat yang dikenal dengan julukan Special K tersebut. “Semakin banyak membeli, harganya semakin murah,” imbuhnya.
Ketamine merupakan obat anestesi yang dalam dunia medis digunakan sebagai pembius. Namun, penyalahgunaannya sebagai narkotika rekreasional dapat memicu efek halusinasi serta berbagai gangguan kesehatan serius, terutama pada sistem saluran kemih.
Ellie mulai menyadari kondisi tubuhnya memburuk setelah beberapa kali mengalami gejala yang menyerupai infeksi saluran kemih. Kondisi itu berkembang menjadi lebih parah hingga membuatnya harus dilarikan ke rumah sakit akibat infeksi ginjal.
“Aku sering pipis berdarah dan mengeluarkan lendir dari kandung kemih. Rasanya sangat menyakitkan,” tambahnya.
Rasa sakit yang dialaminya bahkan membuat aktivitas sederhana seperti berjalan menjadi sangat menyiksa. Tak jarang, ia tidak sempat mencapai toilet karena tidak mampu menahan keinginan buang air kecil.
“Kadang aku tidak sempat sampai toilet karena rasa sakitnya terlalu parah dan aku benar-benar tidak bisa menahannya,” ungkapnya.
Ia menggambarkan rasa sakit tersebut seperti tubuhnya ditusuk dan ditembak secara bersamaan. “Berjalan terasa seperti ditusuk dan ditembak. Sulit menjelaskan seberapa intens rasa sakitnya,” katanya.

Ironisnya, saat masih terjerat kecanduan, ketamine justru menjadi satu-satunya hal yang dirasakannya mampu meredakan nyeri. Meski kini telah berhenti menggunakan obat tersebut selama 10 bulan terakhir, kerusakan yang terjadi pada kandung kemihnya bersifat permanen.
Untuk membantu mengatasi gejala inkontinensia atau kesulitan menahan buang air kecil, Ellie menjalani prosedur suntik Botox pada kandung kemih pada Mei lalu. Terapi tersebut bertujuan mengurangi kontraksi berlebihan pada kandung kemih sehingga dorongan untuk buang air kecil dapat lebih terkontrol.
“Saya hanya bisa bertahan, minum air, dan berharap rasa sakitnya mereda. Kadang satu hari terasa baik-baik saja, lalu besoknya rasa sakitnya tak tertahankan. Sangat sulit menjalani ini,” terang Ellie.
Kini, Ellie berusaha mengubah pengalaman pahitnya menjadi pelajaran bagi orang lain. Ia tengah menggalang dana bagi komunitas pemulihan pecandu ketamine melalui aksi jalan kaki sejauh 96 mil.
“Banyak anak muda tidak tahu risiko ini saat mulai menggunakan ketamine. Dengan membagikan cerita ini, aku berharap bisa meningkatkan kesadaran, mendukung layanan pemulihan, dan membantu orang lain menyadari bahwa pulih dari kecanduan itu mungkin dilakukan,” tutup Ellie.
