Dalam pernikahan mata uang rupiah sering kali dijadikan mahar oleh para calon pengantin.

Mereka mempunyai alasan karena mata uang mempunyai makna spesial misalnya tanggal cantik dan lebih unik dari sekadar mahar lainnya.

Namun, uang rupiah dalam mahar biasanya tak diberikan dalam kondisi semestinya. 

Rupiah tersebut sudah dikreasikan sedemikian rupa seperti dilem, dilipat, dan distapler.

Menanggapi hal tersebut, Nasrullah selaku Humas Bank Indonesia Wilayah Kediri menuturkan, membentuk dengan cara menekuk uang kertas tersebut bisa dikategorikan dalam perusakan uang rupiah dan apabila ketahuan bisa diancam dengan pasal Undang-undang nomor 7 tahun 2011 tentang perusakan simbol negara.

"Sesuai Undang-undang Mata Uang, maka dilarang melakukan pengrusakan terhadap uang Rupiah. Penggunaan uang Rupiah untuk mahar yg dilipat-lipay dan dilem atau di steples bisa masuk kategori merusak uang Rupiah,"tuturnya.

Laki-laki yang akrab disapa Nasrul tersebut juga menjelaskkan bahwa telah jelas disebutkan di UU Mata Uang, Setiap orang yang dengan mengaja merusak, memotong, menghancurkan, dan atau mengubah Rupiah dengan maksud merendahkan kehormatan Rupiah sebagai simbol negara sebagaimana yang dimaksud dalam Pasal 25 Ayat (1) akan dipidana penjara peling lama lima tahun.

"Tidak hanya kurungan. Pelaku juga disuruh membayar denda sebanyak 1 miliar rupiah," jelasnya.

Nasrul menghimbau kepada masyarakat untuk lebih berhati-hati menggunakan uang kertas yang ada agar hak-hal yang tidak diinginkan tidak terjadi.

"Masyarakat diharapkan dapat memperlakukan uang rupiah dengan semestinya, yaitu dengan tidak melipat, tidak memotong, tidak merusak. Karena rupiah ini merupakan simbol kedaulatan NKRI," katanya.

Pihak KPW BI Kediri pun hingga saat ini juga terus menyosialisasikan terkait hal tersebut kepada masyarakat luas agar lebih memahami aturan-aturan yang ada.

"Untuk sosiaI ya terus dilakukan oleh bagian sosialisasi ciri-ciri keaslian uang rupiah (CIKUR) kepada masyarakat luas khususnya di wilayah kerja kita,"tandasnya.
