JATIMTIMES - Struk bukti pembayaran belanja, ATM, dan sebagainya merupakan kertas thermal. Hati-hati, kertas ini berbahaya untuk kesehatan, loh!

Bagaimana tidak. Usai menerimanya, biasanya langsung diremas dan dibuang ke tempat sampah. Tak jarang, beberapa orang bahkan menyimpannya di dompet.

Terbaru hal ini diulas dokter umum yang juga aktif sebagai content creator, yakni dr Gerry Andrian, di media sosialnya. Menurut Gerry, kertas thermal bisa membuat seseorang mengalami kanker payudara, kanker prostat dan diabetes.

“Kertas thermal itu bisa membuat seseorang mengalami kanker karena kadar bisphenol A (BPA)-nya tinggi banget,” ucap Gerry dikutip Rabu (4/7/2024).

BPA tidak hanya bisa masuk lewat jalur pencernaan saat makan atau minum dari wadah yang mengandung BPA, tapi juga dari pernapasan dan dari kulit. Cara mengetahui bahwa itu kertas thermal adalah digosok menggunakan koin.

Jika digosok keluar warna hitam, berarti itu kertas thermal. Saat memegang selama 10 detik saja, BPA bisa masuk ke dalam tubuh. Jika semakin lama dimainkan di tangan, akan semakin banyak BPA yang terserap melalui kulit.

Bedanya jika BPA termakan, sebenarnya lebih aman. Mengapa demikian? Karena bisa dimetabolisme di hati. Jadi, sebagian besar dinetralisasi. Tapi yang terhirup atau yang kontak di kulit itu, sebagian besar tidak dinetralisasi.

“Akhirnya masuk ke dalam darah berikatan dengan reseptor hormon estrogen dan bisa memicu kanker payudara dan penyakit lainnya,” imbuh dokter Gerry.

Dokter Gerry pun memberikan tips agar tidak terpapar BPA dari kertas thermal. Yakni lebih baik tidak perlu minta struk belanja, kalian bisa foto atau minta kirim email atau pesan teks.

Kalau perlu struk belanjanya, bisa dipegang dengan tisu atau langsung masukan ke amplop. Ingat, jangan diremas-remas kertas struknya karena akan semakin banyak BPA yang terserap kulit.

Bagi yang bekerja sebagai kasir atau admin, bisa gunakan sarung tangan. Jangan pakai hand sanitizer sebelum maupun sesudah memegang struk belanjaan karena kadar BPA yang terserap akan meningkat 22-200 kali lipat. Dan cuci tangan dengan sabun setelah memegang struk belanja

“BPA yang terpapar di tangan jika tidak segera dicuci dengan sabun dan misal langsung makan, maka BPA tersebut juga bisa terpapar ke makanan dan masuk ke pencernaan,” tutup dokter Gerry.
