JATIMTIMES - Kabar mengejutkan datang dari industri K-pop . Setelah beberapa nama besar lebih dulu mengambil langkah serupa, kini Lucas resmi mengakhiri kontraknya dengan SM Entertainment. Keputusan ini menandai berakhirnya perjalanan panjang sang idola bersama agensi yang telah membesarkan namanya sejak masa trainee.
Melansir dari pernyataan resmi yang dibagikan melalui platform Weverse , SM Entertainment mengumumkan bahwa kontrak eksklusif Lucas telah berakhir pada 24 April 2026. Dalam pernyataan tersebut, agensi juga menyampaikan rasa terima kasih kepada para penggemar atas dukungan yang terus diberikan kepada artis berusia 27 tahun itu selama berkarier di bawah naungan mereka.

Mereka juga menegaskan akan terus menghargai perjalanan yang telah dilalui bersama Lucas, mulai dari masa pelatihan hingga aktivitasnya setelah debut.

Lucas sendiri pertama kali diperkenalkan ke publik sebagai bagian dari SM Rookies pada 2017, setahun sebelum debut resminya bersama NCT dan sub-unit WayV pada 2018. Namanya sempat melambung berkat visual dan karisma panggung yang kuat.
Namun, kariernya sempat terhenti ketika ia terseret dalam kontroversi yang melibatkan tuduhan gaslighting, perselingkuhan, hingga perilaku manipulatif terhadap sejumlah perempuan yang mengaku sebagai mantan kekasihnya. Sejak saat itu, aktivitasnya bersama grup pun dihentikan.

Pada Mei 2023, Lucas akhirnya memutuskan keluar dari NCT dan WayV. Meski begitu, ia masih melanjutkan karier sebagai solois di bawah SM Entertainment.
Selama bersolo karier, Lucas merilis mini album bertajuk Renegade pada 1 April 2024. Album tersebut menjadi proyek solo pertama sekaligus terakhirnya bersama SM Entertainment, yang sempat dipromosikan di berbagai kota di Asia.
Kini, setelah delapan tahun sejak debutnya di industri hiburan Korea Selatan, Lucas memilih untuk tidak memperpanjang kontraknya dengan SM Entertainment. Keputusan ini membuka babak baru dalam perjalanan kariernya sebagai artis.
